* Half Past Memphis interview by Musician MP3 content managment.
How would you describe the band if you were a pressman or an
editor? |
Eclectic Acoustic music. It's a mixture of the music from the area of Tennessee where we grew up. It has elements of the blues, bluegrass, rock and even a little jazz.
Why did you choose your name? |
Lindsey was brain-storming with her sister and her sister's mother-in-law and they came up with a list of a hundred or so names. She began reading the list to Willi and suddenly she said, "Half Past Memphis". That was it...We chose it on the spot.
What type of music do you play? |
Again - it's a mixture of the music of the Tennessee area where we grew up. It has elements of blues, bluegrass, country, rock and even a little jazz.
How long have you been together? |
Only 7 months. Willi and Steve have played together before but it's been a number of years ago. Steve has been preforming primarily blues while Wille has been preforming more folk, singer songwriter style music. Lindsey has been studying at college and is classically trained. Gary had been playing in a bluegrass band before he got into "Half Past Memphis".
What have you released to date? |
We are releasing our first CD sometime at the end of April. You'll hear very polished versions of the songs here. Plus we have about ten to twelve other originals
When are you planning your next release? |
Again the first release will be the end of April.
What is your favorite song to perform and Why? |
Halfway to Memphis is always fun because it was actually the first song we performed together.
Who are the best bands you preformed with? |
Steve has performed with numerous bands. He played with the likes of Delbert McClinton, B.B. King, and other blues greats. He also performed with his band "Little Boys Blue" for a number of years. Willi has performed with Dr. Sax and Tom Price who are very talented musicians in their own right. Lindsey has been at college and has yet to sow her oats
Where are you planning for your next shows? |
We are planning more concert venues. Small arenas where the people sit and listen to the music.
Any last words? |
We hope that everyone enjoys this music as much as we do playing it. This is just the beginning of a lot more of what you're going to hear from the group "Half Past Memphis".
