Any last words?
Torque originated in 2000 with guitarist Gerald Federico. In 2002, after a few lineup changes the band locked themselves inside their home studio and recorded their first album with their original singer. Upon completion they played out relentlessly to build up their name and sell the CDs Gerry and the boys had worked so hard on. But something was missing. ************************************************** Early in 2003, current bass blaster Lenny introduced Gerry to a singer from his side project. Vocalist, Ken took Gerry's unique guitar stylings and created an entirely different sound without actually changing the music. This led to one more lineup change and a trip back to the writing board. In less than 5 months with the new lineup and sound, Torque is back on the scene and rocking audiences and clubs like never before. ************************************************** KEN On March 31, 1980, the world was given the gift of Ken, an April fools trick one day early (insert canned laughter). Pan eight years later when Kennytard is forced to put on "cute" little "concerts" for his family while singing along to The New Kids On the Block through a "Solid Gold" mic and amp. Anyway Ken continued to work on his singing throughout highschool. In the school choir he sang such hits as (525,600 minutes song from rent), "Jingle Bells", and Sarah McLachlin's(please check that spelling) "I will remember you." Eventually Ken grew some balls and started to listen to good music. From age 14 or so, the young lad was musically raised by bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Guns and Roses, and Alice in Chains. Early in 2001 Ken responded to an ad in search of a replacement vocalist to record an album and tour. Two years into the project, "Chip"(Ken), had travelled all around the country and recorded lead vocals for his first full length L.P. Unfortunately he did not like the music that he was performing or the management ethics within the project so in late 2002 he resigned. After a few months of heavy masterbation (now that he had all this time on his hands) Ken started looking for a new "adventure" (yay!) Instead he found some asshole named Lenny Hart. The two worked together on some acoustic material playing coffee houses here and there, but nothing entirely serious until Lenn realized what a goddamned genious he was working with. Upon this realization Lenny brought Ken in to audition for the project that he had been subbing in for on bass guitar. He thought that Ken would help to lead this band in a better direction. He was wrong. TORQUE sucks and should not even be able to play on the subway. Come watch us suck out loud. Achievements and Schooling 6 years School Choir (honors level) 4 years drum lessons @ Dicenzo's Drum Shop, Quincy, MA 1 year vocal training @ Genie Deva Studio 2 years as lead vocalist for Seven(Coven)13 1 year as lead vocalist and cowriter for Torque 1 full length L.P. Torque-"Go Play In Traffic/Thinking of You" 2003c(All vocals, recording engineer, mixing engineer, producer) ************************************************** GERRY The originator of Torque was born and raised in "the ville," A.K.A. Somerville, MA. There he attended catholic school until he ran out of nuns to sleep with and priests to blackmail. Somewhere around 17 Gerald put his hands to better use and picked up a guitar. He washed his hands first though. The G man tore his way rapidly through nearly every heavymetal song none to man, including songs from Moneyicca, I mean Metallica, Megadeath, and Van Halen. Self taught, this musical maniac was pulling solos created by Steve Vai and EddieV H within 2 years. "But wait there's more!" As "Fingers" Federico progressed he decided that he needed to perfect his technique and stray away from playing cover songs because cover band guitarists never get laid! He took lessons from Joe Stump for three years and began writing his own instrumental jams. This lead to Gerry slowly forming the conglomory of suck that is now called Torque. Ready to show Boston what music is all about, Gerry's project continues to get bigger and better wowing audiences left and right. But, whatever you do don't touch his guitar...........! ************************************************** Bill Whitney Born in Texas, but Raised in Londonderry, NH, Bill began his musical career playing trumpet in his 5th grade band. Several years and any number of instruments later, he found himself at James Madison University studying tuba. Living in practice rooms all through college, Bill found himself burning out on classical music, and began to focus more on electric bass, which he had picked up in high school, but put on the back burner during college. He also began exploring interdisciplinary art, working on a number of projects creating music for modern dance, as well as for visual art installations. On a tip from a friend, he took an audition for a local acoustic funk/rock band called Sidewalk Closed, which later evolved into a heavier electronic rock project, The Human Condition. The group developed quite a following in the JMU college scene, and toured a number of east coast cities from High Point, NC up to NYC. Graduation marked the end of that band, however, so Bill moved to the Boston area to pursue his musical career. He met Torque at a show where he was subbing for a local punk band, and somehow made a good enough impression that they called him for an audition. In addition to playing with Torque, Bill currently plays with a few other groups and teaches middle school band and private music lessons.
